. This inscription, 22 meters long and 7 meters and 80 centimeters high, is written in three languages: Old Persian, Elamite and Akkadian. Its text describes how Darius suppressed the rebels and consolidated the Achaemenid throne. - When standing in front of this inscription, it is as if time has turned back. The relief that shows Darius with a crown on his head and his enemies in chains is still intact after 2,500 years. This book is not only a historical work, but also one of the most important sources for the study of ancient languages and Achaemenid history. It is interesting to know that the decipherment of this inscription in the 19th century helped archaeologists to read cuneiform, in fact, like a key that unlocked the secrets of the past.
