Seyyed Abolqasem Hosseini Mehrabadi, known as Qa’em-maqam Farahani (1158 SH Mehrabad Arak – July 6, 1214 SH Tehran), was the Prime Minister of Iran, a politician, a writer, and a poet. He served as Prime Minister from 1213 to 1214 SH. His pressures for maintaining a balance between customs imports and exports caused hatred from the envoys of Russia and England towards him, and ultimately, he was assassinated due to a plot by the British ambassador and some court officials of Iran, such as Haji Mirza Aghasi and Mirza Abolhasan Khan Ilchi, along with the command of Mohammad Shah in the Garden of Negarestan
The Treaty of Turkamanchay
The Treaty of Turkamanchay was drawn up and signed by Qaim Maqam on March 1, 1206 (February 21, 1828 AD). Qaim Maqam, who was carrying the copy of the treaty, returned to Tehran and provided the necessary explanations about it. He collected the six crore compensation that, according to the treaty, had to be paid to the Russian government. Once again, at the beginning of the year 1212 in the Persian calendar, the deputy of the crown was dispatched to Herat to suppress the uprising of Afghan rebels, taking Qaim Maqam along with him
Literature
He translated the prose of Persian literature, which at that time was full of exaggeration, flattery, and intricate Arabic expressions that were complicated and obscure, into fluent and clear prose. After him, many secretaries of the Qajar era followed his style and adopted his method of writing. He also had amazing talent in poetry, but his enduring masterpiece is his letters

The book “Master of Melody”; is a collection of newly discovered letters from Qaim Maqam Farahani, edited by Mohammad Reza Behzadi, Mohammad Tolouei, and Mohammad Mirzakhani, published by Parandeh Publishing in 2016
This work includes 52 newly discovered manuscripts from Qaim Maqam Farahani, which were copied from the Royal Library of Golestan Palace and published after approximately 150 years
Calligraphy
Ghaem Magham Farahani is also one of the renowned calligraphers and influential figures in the evolution of Persian script. He made reforms in the broken Nasta’liq script, which at that time was as complex and intertwined as Persian prose, in his own style, leading others to follow him

His body was buried without washing and shrouding in the shrine of Shah Abad al-Azim in Shahre Rey
