Ferdowsi is one of the greatest poets and writers in Iranian history, famed for composing the Shahnameh, the greatest epic work of Persian literature. The Shahnameh narrates the mythical, historical, and heroic tales of Iran and is recognized as one of the most important and influential works of literature in the world

Ferdowsi was born in Tus (present-day Razavi Khorasan) and dedicated most of his life to composing the Shahnameh. He wrote this work with the aim of reviving the Persian language and Iranian culture after the Arab invasion and the dominance of the Arabic language over Iran. The Shahnameh consists of 60,000 verses and its stories cover the entirety of Iran’s mythological history up to the conquest of Iran by the Arabs.

Ferdowsi is recognized as a sage and the father of Persian poetry for his efforts in preserving the Iranian language and culture. He has had a profound impact on the literature, culture, and national identity of Iranians, and his works are still respected and studied among the people of Iran and other Persian-speaking

The 25th of Ordibehesht has been designated in the calendar in the name of this great poet.

 :Sample poem of Ferdowsi

It may not be good to see a bad end

From evil, a bad name arises in the world

Look to what you do, that is how you will appear

Whatever you say, that is what you will hear

As long as you live, strive for goodness

Perhaps you will achieve your desires in another realm
