Khosrow I, known as Anushirvan the Just or Anushiravan the Just, was the twenty-second Shahanshah of Iran and Aniran from the Sasanian dynasty in Iranshahr, who reigned from September 531 to February 579 AD. He was the third son of Qobad I. His reign, following that of Shapur II, witnessed a military revival of the country and the expansion of its territory, marking the beginning of the second and final golden age of the Sasanian era.The rule of Khosrow began with internal revolts, particularly from the Mazdakites, but he managed to suppress them and restore peace to the country.The reign of Khosrow Anushirvan is one of the most brilliant periods of the Sassanian era. During this time, philosophy and literature also flourished. Khosrow was one of the first kings to have an interest in and attention to reading and writing. In Iranian literature, Khosrow symbolizes an ideal king about whom many stories are told regarding generosity, wisdom, justice, piety, and more.
