Yaqoob Lais Safari (225 AH – Shawwal 265 AH) was a blacksmith and the founder of the Safarid dynasty in Sistan, based in Zarang
During his political life and his rise to power in Sistan, he succeeded in defeating the Kharijites, the Alawites, and the Tahirids, and in conquering regions such as Kerman and Fars. After capturing Fars, Yaqoob Lais turned his attention to Khuzestan and the suppression of Muhammad bin Wasil, with a focus on Baghdad, the center of the Abbasid caliphate
Yaqoub Lais is considered the first Iranian ruler who revived the Persian language after the collapse of the Sassanian Empire
Yaqub died in the year 265 AH in Gundeshapur due to kidney colic. Some have speculated that the tomb of Shah Abolqasem, located in a village called Shah Abad (Shah Abolqasem or Islam Abad), may be the same as the tomb of Yaqub Lais. This theory has been rejected by some researchers
