Highlights

• Kurdistan Province, one of the provinces of Iran, with its capital in the city of Sanandaj, is located in the west of the country.Kurdistan is the land and territory of the Kurds and an area in western Iran.
• In Kurdistan, about one thousand two hundred and thirty-four archaeological sites have been identified, and about five hundred of them have been registered in the national heritage list. Most of the forests in the province are located around the cities of Baneh and Marivan, and they are ranked second in importance after the forests of the northern country. Currently, the forests of the province have become scattered shrubs and bushes.

• Zrivar Lake in Kurdish in the Marivan County is one of the tourist attractions of Kurdistan Province. Marivan County is located 125 kilometers northwest of Sanandaj. Zrivar Lake, with its migratory and native birds and its unique marshy environment, as well as the surrounding forests, has made this area one of the popular and frequently visited spots for tourists.
• Zarivar Lake is the largest freshwater lake in Iran and is considered one of the most famous and beautiful natural attractions in the western part of the country.
• Oraman is a mountainous region in western Iran and eastern Iraq, inhabited by the Goran ethnic group, who speak the Horami dialect, a branch of the Gorani language.The history of settlement in this area dates back to prehistoric times, with the discovery of the Oraman tablets confirming the governance of the Assyrians, Medes, Achaemenids, and Greeks.
• Oramanat is a cultural region in the west of the country, located between the provinces of Kurdistan and Kermanshah, characterized by its mountains and roaring rivers.
• Oramanat is the twenty-sixth World Heritage site from Iran that has been registered in the UNESCO World Heritage list.
• Culture The people of the region believe that Uramanat Takht was once a large city and had a specific centrality, which is why it was referred to as the throne or center of the Uraman region. Aside from the unique architectural status of the village, the location of the abundant springs, special ceremonies, customs, and the presence of the shrine and mosque of Pir Shalyar, as well as the notable population and number of residents, indicate the significance of the area from past eras.
• Karafto Cave is an ancient cave and historical site in Kurdistan Province, located in a high rock east of the city of Saqqez and northwest of Divandareh County. In terms of administrative divisions, it was previously under the jurisdiction of Saqqez and is currently in the jurisdiction of Divandareh County.
• This work was registered on Bahman 20, 1318 (February 9, 1940) with registration number 330 as one of the national heritage sites of Iran. Additionally, this cave was registered on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List on Aban 24, 1401 (November 15, 2022).
