The city of Hamedan is one of the oldest cities in Iran and the first capital of the Median kingdom in the world. This city is located in the west of ancient Iran. In the past, it had different names such as Amdaneh,Hegmataneh, Ecbatan, Amdaneh, Anadana, .Hamedan has a mountainous climate and is cold in winter and autumn. It is best to travel to this historical city in the spring and summer to experience the mild and unique weather.
Ali Sadr Cave: One of the few amazing caves in the city of Hamedan is Ali Sadr Cave, which has the longest boating route in the world.
Tomb of Abu Ali Sina: This tomb is known as the symbol of Hamadan among the sights of Hamadan. This tomb is world famous and is located in an oval-shaped square with old plane trees and very beautiful water fountains. The design of this building is based on the oldest Islamic building, the Qaboos Tower in Gonbad-e Kavus, but the main difference between these buildings is the number of columns and their distance from each other;The dimensions of the columns of Qaboos Nameh are much larger than the columns of the tomb of Abu Ali Sina. In the southern part of this tomb there is a hall as a museum and a place to store coins, pottery and discovered objects. Even in the northern part of this tomb, a collection of books by Abu Ali Sina is kept. In the construction of this building, two styles of ancient Iran and Iran after Islam were used along with new technologies taken from ancient Greece and Egypt.
Baba Taher Tomb: Baba Taher is a great poet and mystic, and the reason he is famous for being naked is because he was away from all worldly belongings and walked the path of mysticism. This tomb was built with an octagonal and turquoise dome on an octagonal hill in 1344. Inside the tomb, mosaic tiles and decorations are used, and the floor of this tomb is decorated with granite and marble in a very charming and unique way, which attracts tourists.
The Ganjnameh inscriptions or petroglyphs are two stone tablets from the era of Darius and Xerxes of the Achaemenids. These inscriptions are the reason for the fame of this region, written in three columns of 20 lines and in the ancient Persian, Babylonian, and Elamite languages.
Another of the most interesting places in Hamedan is Hegmataneh Hill, which is located in the northern part of the old Hamedan Bazaar and at the end of Ekbatan Street. It is a three thousand year old underground city that new information is discovered in every excavation of this area, and over the years more dimensions of this large and ancient city are discovered. The artifacts obtained from these excavations are on display in the Hegmataneh Museum for public viewing.
