Shah Ismail I (July 17, 1487 – May 23, 1524) was the first king of the Safavid dynasty and the founder of the Safavid Empire, who ruled as the king of Iran from 1501 to 1524 AD. His reign is Ismail was born on the 25th of Rajab in the year 892 (July 17, 1487) in Ardabil. According to the Mashkin Shahr Encyclopedia, he was born in Mashkin Shahr. Ismail was only one year old when he lost his father (in Rajab 893). often considered the beginning of modern Iranian history and one of the gunpowder empires.The government founded by Shah Ismail I lasted for more than two centuries and at its peak during the reign of Shah Abbas the Great, it governed all of present-day Iran, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, the South Caucasus, Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan, parts of Syria, Turkey, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan.Shah Ismail went from Tabriz to Shaki for hunting. He returned from hunting and, after visiting the graves of his ancestors, headed towards Sarab, where he fell ill. No matter how much he was treated, it was of no use, and on the night of Monday, the 19th of Rajab, 930 / May 23, 1524, he passed away and was buried at the tomb of Sheikh Safi al-Din Ardabili in Ardabil. At the time of his death, he was thirty-six years and ten months old and had reigned for nearly twenty-three years.
