Kay Khosrow, in Iranian epics and the Shahnameh of Ferdowsi, is the son of Siyavash and Farangis and the grandson of Kay Kavus and Afrasiab. The term Kay Khosrow means “king of good name.” Kay Khosrow is superior to the kings of the Kiyanian dynasty in piety and bravery, and he is better known than Kay Kavus; because Kay Kavus performs treacherous acts in the Shahnameh, while Kay Khosrow remains a just and brave king. In the Shahnameh and Pahlavi writings, Kay Khosrow is a symbol of an ideal king
