One of the oldest Gardens in Shiraz Very dreamy and lovely. Delgosha Garden is one of the historical and famous gardens of Shiraz, located in the Fars province of Iran. With its traditional Persian architecture, lush greenery, and abundant orange and citrus trees, it has long been recognized as a cultural heritage site and a popular tourist attraction
Architecture, Layout, and Structure
:Delgosha Garden includes several distinctive features that make it a classic example of a traditional Persian garden
The garden is rectangular in shape, approximately 360 × 160 meters in size — covering 5.7 to 7.5 hectares
Water is supplied by the Gazarān Qanat, flowing through canals and streams that lead to a large pool beside the central mansion
The garden contains around 3,000 bitter-orange (Seville orange) trees, which in spring fill the air with the famous scent of bahar-e naranj (orange blossom)
In addition to orange trees, the garden includes cypress, pine, palm, and other ornamental plants, creating a diverse and shaded landscape
Central Mansion (Kolāh-Farangi Pavilion)
At the heart of the garden stands a three-story mansion known as the Kolāh-Farangi (Pleasure Pavilion). It represents a mix of Persian and European architectural influence
The mansion contains a main hall, four royal chambers (shāh-neshin), and a large balcony supported by two columns overlooking the garden’s main pool
Decorations include stucco work, mirrorwork, paintings, and poetic inscriptions in Nastaʿliq calligraphy, featuring verses by the Shirazi poet Shurideh Shirazi
In the past, the building served as the residence of the garden’s owners; today, part of it functions as a small museum
Visitor Experience: Nature, Scents, and Peaceful Ambience
One of the most delightful features of Delgosha is the fragrance of orange blossoms during spring — especially in April and early May — which creates an unforgettable atmosphere
The stone-paved pathways, clear water streams, fountains, and tall, shady trees work together to create a very calm and pleasant environment
The central mansion, with its elegant architecture, is an ideal spot for strolling, photography, relaxation, and reflection
Delgosha Garden is a perfect destination for walking, enjoying nature, experiencing heritage, and appreciating traditional Persian landscaping
