Lorestan Province is one of the western provinces of Iran.Khorramabad is the capital of the province.
Lorestan is a mountainous land, and except for a few limited plains, it is entirely covered by the Zagros Mountains. The Oshtorankuh, with an elevation of 4,150 meters, is the highest point in the province.Lorestan is home to numerous archaeological and historical sites that can be categorized into three periods: pre-history, ancient Iran, and the Islamic period. From the Achaemenid and Sassanid periods, numerous destroyed bridges and fortresses have remained. Gawmishan Bridge, Pul-e Dokhtar,Keshkan Bridge, Shapouri Bridge, Kalleh Bridge, Si Pole Bridge, Mamulan Bridge, and also Nasir Castle, Meidan Castle, Chameshk Caravanserai, and Falakolaflak Castle are part of this category.

Gahar Lake is located in the midst of the Oshtorankuh mountain range in the southeastern part of Durud County. This lake, known as the "gem of Oshtorankuh," is considered one of the most beautiful natural lakes in Iran.
Falakolaflak, or the Shapurkhast Fortress, is a historical castle located in the center of Khorramabad in Lorestan Province. Falakolaflak is also known as the Twelve-Tower Castle. This building is situated on a hill overlooking the city of Khorramabad and near the river, and it is the most notable historical and tourist attraction in this city.
